Learning has many facets. The common outcome – under the circumstances that the learners made the right choice – is the following:
Those who learn have more knowledge, experience, and even more skills to learn than before. Because practice makes perfect. Learning to learn offers the advantage of being able to absorb new things more easily.
Observing the current situation in the USA, especially that of the system's henchmen, one gets the impression that these are people who have never learned anything. Their actions are indeed mandated, but as was already established at the end of the "Third Reich," they are obligated to examine the legality of their actions and, if in doubt, to refuse to follow unlawful orders. This, however, requires minimal legal knowledge (and an active, unbiased conscience!) of those facing this problem. Be aware that there is no *dilemma*, because they act from base motives and without threat for their own lives in case of denial to carry out unlawful commands.
Once the authoritarian régime the Trump administration is currently working on to establish and/or expand collapses, the moment of truth for the judicial system, ICE, and aligned law enforcement plus helping/assisting police forces will come before the courts.
The currently ruling mob will be met with the "Vae victis!", the situation will reverse, and the perpetrators of crimes against humanity and the law will then be in a position to repent for what they have done to fellow human beings and their fellow citizens in very different legal situations. In particular, the severity of the crackdown, the treatment of the weak, and the brutality against the defenseless will come before the courts. They will learn immediately what they did ignore until then.
If this happens it won't help the perpetrators that the USA has always refused to recognize the International Court of Justice – a situation similar to the tribunals conducted by the Allies after World War II will be established.
Responsibility for unlawful actions will one day fall on the henchmen of the Trump system.
I very much hope to still live to see what is going to happen in this case.
